How Music Shapes Us

Two things excite me more than anything:

Creating and seeing how others create. I thought it would be nice to put these two things together into a series on how music plays a role in our everyday lives and how it can directly affect our art. And of course, vice versa.

As I take a step back I see that I'm surrounded by talented makers. They inspire me, and I want to learn from them. When I seal my lips and open my mind a world opens up. This is true of any scenario, but for our purposes, I've chosen to ask a set of key questions to makers I admire aimed at opening all of our minds to the possibilities. Included in this series will be a playlist by each person I interview.

I don't know about you but I LOVE music.

Side note: Did you know I was a musician for my entire life up until I started having kids a few years ago? It's true. I never envisioned a world where I wouldn't be a practicing musician, but, kids. It's something I want to do again before I kick the bucket-I'm compiling a list of such things lately.

As you read this series think about you.

Have you always wanted to make something?  Learn a craft? Pick up that paintbrush again? Have you honed your craft but you're terrified to open a business? My hope is that as you read these stories you'll realize that you can do whatever you decide to do.

For me, one of those things is making pottery; something I tried once in 8th grade and thought about ever since. Life is busy and stressful and there are 971 reasons to never pull the trigger. I don't want to look back on my life and wish I would have done those things, said those things, made choices out of love and not fear. I want to live my best life, now.

You can find the first 6 playlists of 2018 in the bottom footer of our website under PLAYLISTS. If you don't have a Spotify account it's easy to make one. You can then listen along to the first 6 months where I shared what we've been listening to in the studio. Starting in the 7th month of 2018 I'm thrilled to showcase business owners who choose to follow their dream, and learn not only what they do, but what inspires them while they do it.

With sound wave hugs and love,
